Hi Everyone
This is my very first blog post and I want to thank Ronnie for letting me post to her blog. It’s been a fast year at Riverdale High. As you may know, I play football with Reg and Moose. I’m the team Quarterback. I wanted to let you all know that we dedicated last night’s win to Mr. Goldwater.
Now back to the contest…
There were 50+ stories to read. It took me a while to get through them all but it was worth it. I had a hard time picking my own criteria for what made a winning story. I finally decided that the story that depicted Riverdale High the best would be the one I’d choose.
As good as they all were, I have to say that Katie L’s story captured the true Riverdale High. Congrats Katie! You really did a great job of making my school come to life.
It was an honor,
Chuck

Hello To All
Coach
Clayton Here.
I would like to thank all the contestants for their stories. They were purely my pleasure to read. Picking the best story was a tad harder then coming back in the 4th quarter when you’re down by 50 - though with guys like Moose and Reggie we've been able to pull that off.
Each
story was good enough to win, so I had I go with elements that I
personally enjoyed... Thus Troy
W
was my pick. I just found it very funny that Jug got his in the
end. To any of you who think Jughead gets away with a bit more
then he should, I encourage you to read this very funny tale. (Click on the Hall of Fame button!)

Hi
Everybody
Moose here. Sorry it took me soooo loooong to pick a winner, but as most of you know I'm dyslexic. I'm not ashamed or anything, it's kind of like needing braces for your teeth or if you need to wear glasses to see better. When I read, sometimes the words will look backwards to me, that's all. The teachers at Riverdale have helped me a lot and I read better now then ever. It's just that when I really want to do a good job of reading, I just read a little slower than most.
I want you all to know I really like every one of your stories. So I had to read all these stories at least twice and some three times. But after all that work I have to say....
kami YOURS WAS THE BEST!!!! (Click on the Hall of Fame button to read Kami's story!)

I finished reading all the stories for Week 8: Author’s Choice on the loooong flight back to Riverdale last night. There were TONS of original stories… and they were FANTASTIC!
I was really tired, but I decided to read just one more story before I took a break. It was called, The Hero Without Any Powers. So I read it and I thought, Oh great, a sci-fi story – one that doesn’t have ME in it ANYWHERE! How wrong is that?
And then I went to sleep on the plane. And I dreamed about THIS STORY. I could see EVERYTHING – the sets, the costumes – you know, like I was a cinematographer or a movie director or something! It was soooo VIVID in my dream and it had this great film noir look to it… and a little bit of the sci-fi giant ant classic, THEM!
What can I say? Pureheart the Powerful, I LOVED this story! YOU are the winner for Week 8.
Thank you for ALL of your stories – every single one of them. We’re going to have an Author’s Choice Week once every quarter, so if you’d like to resubmit your story next quarter (when it's Author's Choice Week) PLEASE DO! They were ALL winners in my book!

Greetings and Salutations to All You Essayists!
I must say what a challenge it was to scientifically select the winning yarn this week. You all know how I love a challenge.
It took me 40+ hours to build the spreadsheet in which I downloaded all the pertinent data from the marvelous narratives you presented to me. I calculated length, proper usage of words, including but not limited to the “WOW” effect. I also took into account characters used delineated by their dialog. This, of course, was all part of a formula that the probable quantum winner could be selected from.
Anyway my computer’s hard drive crashed like a Big Dog from input overload, so I just read the stories and here is the one I like the best. With no further ado…
…the winner is Meg.
Meg, I really enjoyed your story and I’m sure if my computer would not have crashed it would have picked you, too.
Carpe diem,
Dilton
Hey,
all you Week 6 Contestants!
Sorry this announcement has taken me a little longer than I’d like, but I’ve been helping Ronnie get all geared up for the big Tour De Riverdale later today. I love Ron – don’t get me wrong – but you all know how time consuming a friend like Ronnie can be! ‘Nuff said.
Moving on to the exciting stuff: I LOVED judging the stories for Driving With Ethel – it’s the most fun I’ve had all year and I realized that I might want to become a Story Editor one day – maybe for a magazine… or maybe even Archie Comics!
This decision was really tough – I couldn’t believe how many creative ways you found to tell about Ethel’s MISADVENTURES behind the wheel! I could have written a half dozen stories for this one myself – all based on personal experience, mind you – I took Driver’s Education with Ethel last year - YIKES!!!
The story I chose was written by Maha. AND IT WAS HILARIOUS!!! Congratulations, Maha - You WON Week 6’s Contest!
I want to encourage ALL of you to KEEP WRITING STORIES and SENDING THEM IN! I speak for everybody in Riverdale when I say –
They Are Great!!!
Hugs & Kisses,
Nancy
Well
Hello to all you fabulous writers!
Judging this contest was one of the hardest and most enjoyable things I've ever done. I wish EVERYONE of you could win because all the stories were incredible. They all were very very funny, too.
But before I tell you WHO the winner is, I want to invite you to stop in my shop whenever you come to Riverdale. You'll get a free shake - flavor of your choice – because you are ALL winners in my book!
Here goes: The winner for Week 5: The Big Zoo Boo Boo is..... Hilda
Even though all the stories were great, YOUR story, Hilda, stood out as the best. Congratulations!
