We Need A Vacation!

I’m talking about Bets and me. You wouldn’t believe how many people have asked us for posting time on our blogs – just so they can hear from YOU! I have a stack of Valentine "help" posts a mile high! I’ve had to prioritize (you know, pick the most urgent) or else I’d never get my blog back!

Take Dilton – his was a special case – and if you read his post yesterday, you understand why. A worm farm?!? I know "S" and she would NOT have appreciated WORMS! Thanks for all the help you’re giving him.

We’re having a Straw Drawing at Pop’s tonight, so we’ll let you know TOMORROW who the new judge is going to be for Week 25!

Has January been Looooooooooooooong? Or is it just me?

Advice PLZ by Dilton

Greetings, Veronica’s World Readers!

Dilton here. I will make this brief. I know this girl (her first name starts with an “S”) who is sort of hard to impress. However, I would like to get her something nice - but not sappy or traditional - for Valentine’s Day.

The 2 ideas I came up with:

1. Re-build her hard drive
2. Buy her a worm farm (worms are quite interesting)

Veronica immediately vetoed both my ideas and bumped me to the top of the Valentine’s posting rotation. She said it was an emergency. If you have any suggestions, I’m all ears.

Appreciatively,

Dilton

Winner: Week 23

It was my sincere privilege to judge the entries for Week 23’s Story Contest. The story assigned to me was titled, Santa’s Helpers. I love Christmas stories and there were some outstanding entries, so my choice was a difficult one.

But the story that really sparkled with Christmas Spirit featured "an elf gone bad," called Morty. Ha ha - Makes me laugh just to think about it! Leticia, dear, your story was delightful! The dialog was witty, the pacing superb, and you captured the characters’ personalities brilliantly.

Thank you for writing this Christmas gem. It will shine in the Story Hall of Fame.

Very Truly Yours,

Ms. Geraldine Grundy

Two-Time Story Contest Judge

Greetings to all the Buddies of this blog, Story Writers and Friends of Riverdale.

Busy Weekend

I got a call from Patty this morning. She said she saw Ms. Grundy having breakfast at Pop’s. She was eating poached eggs (Ms. Grundy, not Patty. Patty had French toast, I think.) Anyway Ms. Grundy had some exciting news. If you’ll recall, she is judging Week 23’s Story Entries for Santa’s Helpers.

Ms. Grundy

told Patty that she chose a winner early this morning! She is finishing her report and will drop it by Patty’s office this evening.

Check my blog tomorrow for Ms. Grundy’s decision!

I can’t wait to find out who won. Our other 2 judges, Pop Tate and Jughead, are still reading their assigned stories, so stay tuned…

Look What Betty’s Started

I knew this would happen. You know Betty let Ethel post on her blog, right? (Of course you know that - Good one, Ron.) Well, today Moose asked me if he could write a post asking you for advice. And so did Chuck and Nancy and Dilton – to tell you the truth, so many people asked that I LOST COUNT!

So Bets and I talked, and since we’re technically not participating in Valentine’s Day this year, we thought we’d put our blogs to good use for others and let THEM benefit from your advice, Oh Wise Bloggy Buddies. :)

Look for special "guest posts" on my blog and Betty’s too this next week.

(((BBHugs)))

Ronnie

P.S

. Make sure you leave them lots of comments; they love comments.:-)

January 23, 2008

Good One, Marissa!

LOL!!!

You should have seen the look on Midge’s

face when I showed her my last post and Marissa’s comment! Marissa Midge wants you to know that she does not – repeat NOT – like Juggy. They are friends and that’s it.

(Between you and me, I think they’d make a cute couple. ;-D) Anyway, sorry for the confusion; I guess I should have phrased that better.

Okay, moving on. Betty has been having lots of fun over on her blog reading your answers to the questions she asked. So, I thought I’d ask some questions, too. It’ll make January go by MUCH faster! I hope you like them. They are on my favorite subject at the moment, American Idol. Here goes:

What do you think of Idol so far this season?

Do you think you’ve spotted this year’s winner yet?

Which audition was the funniest/weirdest?

Who’s your favorite Idol judge?

Do you like Simon? And, do you think he’s mean or just charm-free?

Which past Idol winner is YOUR favorite?

Ooh, I can’t wait to read your answers!

Feels Like Monday

I know. It’s actually Tuesday, but it FEELS like Monday all over again. I think today was worse than a regular Monday because the teachers felt compelled to give us 2 days work! After having been in school most of my life I have come to the conclusion that there is no escaping homework.

School was a little weird today – I mean, besides the homework thing. I broke the heel off my brand new boots. Just snapped right off.  Fortunately, I keep an extra pair in my locker – but they weren’t the same.

And I noticed that lots of my friends were a little on edge. Just TOO sensitive. You know? For instance, we were all talking at lunch and Chuck said some little thing – I don’t even remember what it was now – that really annoyed Nancy. She was still miffed at him after school. And those 2 NEVER get annoyed at each other.

And Wendy Weatherbee was NOT perky today. I actually saw her frown!  And Ethel was strangely quiet today, too. Midge told me she’s given up on Jughead!

I don’t know WHAT was going on today, but I’m glad I’m home. Tomorrow’s a brand new day, right? Hopefully, it’ll be better.

Oh No

I got a call today. It was an invitation for The Archies to play at a VALENTINE’S Dance! This is NOT the way to avoid Valentine’s Day and I really don’t want to do it.

It’s not ON Valentine’s Day; it’s the Saturday before, but still – the place will be all decorated, and we’ll have to play love songs, and Archie will be there, and so will I, and so will Betty.

I told Betty. She doesn’t know what to do either. I guess we should tell the guys.  What do you think?

Boys!

So today at school, Moose asked me to help him pick something for Midge for Valentine’s Day. At first I flatly refused. Before you yell at me, I have 2 good reasons:

I am Valentine’s Day phobic. Nothing good EVER happens to me on that holiday – that’s why Betty and I made our resolution. And, did you notice I do NOT have a Valentine-y banner on my blog? I asked Patty not to put one up. I am ignoring the whole holiday this year and looking forward to a peaceful time. IF I help Moose, then I’ll just get caught up in the whole Valentine’s thing and I don’t want to do that.

Do you remember what happened at Christmas? I ended up taking ALL the guys to the mall to Christmas shop! I don’t want THAT to happen.

I suggested he ask Nancy or Betty… but he looked so sad – like when you scold a puppy sad – so I caved. I said I’d help. I could use some suggestions, so if you have any plz lmk!

So Far So Good

Hi bbs! I had a good day at school today.

1. Professor Flutesnoot
loved the question I asked in Physics – I don’t remember what it was now, but he was impressed and he took 15 whole minutes to answer it.

2. Ms. Beazley
served a yummy salad at lunch (as opposed to yesterday’s gravy smothered mystery meat – Eewwwwww!)

3. Ms. Grundy didn’t give us any homework; she has her own assignment judging Santa’s Helpers and she said she doesn’t have time to grade our stuff too. :)

4. Mr. Bee was seen whistling outside his office.

5. There were NO pranks today, so Reggie didn’t get into trouble.

6. The sun was out! I don’t do cloudy days.

And, best of all, Valentine’s Day is less than a month away and Bets and I are still best friends! Usually, by this time every January, we’re caught up in that stupid competition thing we do every year over Archie. This year, thanks to our mutual New Year’s resolution, we’re skipping all that childish melodrama.

I think this is going to be the best January ever! So, how did YOUR day go? Did anything exciting happen? Tell me… I’m waiting…

Peaceful Day at School

Finally! A prank-free day! Maybe because Reggie spent the afternoon in Mr. Bee’s office. Or maybe the person trying to frame Reggie thought they’d better lay low. Whatever the reason, it was really nice to have a “normal” day at school. LOL Like there is such a thing!

So moving on to more important things: Did you watch Idol last night? I did. I love that show! Well, what’d you think?

Trend Alert

Veronica_2 Cropped faux fur jackets are oh-so-swanky this season. (Faux fur is fake fur, so all of you animal lovers out there, have no fear!) They are perfect for every girl, whether you are the jeans and t-shirt type, or skirts and heels. I know a lot of you casual-type girls may shy away from this style, but trust me; it won’t give you that over-the-top tacky look some of those great big real fur coats can do. If you keep it a safe dark color, and short and fitted, it can look great! It dresses up any outfit yet doesn’t overdo it. And if you do like to dress up, it just adds to your look. Better get shopping!

One More Chance

I talked to Betty last night – 3 times – and again this morning on the way to school. She is pretty sure Reggie is innocent, and after giving it a lot of thought, I’m willing to give him a second chance.

This morning when he walked into school NOBODY spoke to him. (Well, the guys did; I was talking about the girls.) So Betty marched right over and said, “Hi, Reggie,” because that’s just the kind of person she is.

Betty = Cool

Then the girls gave her a dirty look for speaking to the enemy. Of course, I couldn’t stand by and watch that, so I went over and talked to him too – even though I didn’t want to. I was doing it for Betty and I told him so.

Bets and I ate lunch with him too and by then other girls started to talk to him. Everything looked like it was going to be fine, then all sorts of mayhem happened in Jughead’s cooking class.

Of course, Reg was the prime suspect ONCE AGAIN. (Someone saw him hanging around that classroom before lunch – and his locker IS close by.) So now, I don’t know what to think.

Rule #1

Dear Reggie,

You broke Rule #1 today in the Universal Book of Rules for Girls. (It’s not in print anywhere – girls just know this stuff.)

Rule #1: NEVER stand between a girl and a mirror – any mirror, but especially a full length one – like the ones in the girls’ bathrooms at Riverdale High. What a sneaky dirty trick! And there’s no use pretending you’re innocent; we all KNOW you did it!

You have stooped to a new low and we will not forget it.

No hugs for you today, mister – bloggy or otherwise,

Veronica

I’ve Straightened Everything Out

I almost forgot to tell you with the snow and everything. I talked to Archie Friday at school and I told him – very plainly (because that’s the only way you can talk to Archie) – that he should NOT get me a Valentine’s gift.

I think Betty’s right; we need to put a stop to all this Valentine’s Day nonsense before it ever starts. I don’t think it’ll happen this year. You know, this might just be the first time EVER that Archie, Betty and I aren’t mad at each other for Valentine’s Day. Wow!

I’m Bored

I guess you’ve heard by now that we’re getting a big snowstorm here in Riverdale. Daddy won’t let me drive in these conditions (and honestly, I don’t want to anyway. Looks kinda scary out there.) All my friends are stuck at home too, so it’s not like one of those “fun” snows. This one’s annoying. And it’s cold – did I mention that?

I’m bored. You know I don’t do boredom very well. Midge IM’d me a while ago and gave me this word game. I thought you might like to play too. Write as many words as you can think of using only the letters in the month -

J-A-N-U-A-R-Y

I came up with 7 words so far. I’m still working on it. LMK how many words you come up with.

Bye-Bye Bad Hair Days

Veronica_2 A hat is the ultimate accessory for these cold winter months. What better way to look fashionable and stay warm? They add a little extra oomph to any outfit, and are the ultimate savior for bad hair days, or days when you just don’t have time to style your hair. Now ladies, I am not talking about your standard baseball caps. Those are fine for dressing down and in sporty situations. But there are so many other fun types out there. There are fedoras, knit caps, bucket hats, cowboy hats, butterfly hats, military caps. There are just so many different kinds, I could never name them all here. So there has to be one that works for you.
Want to spice up a blah wardrobe? Try some colored jeans. Seriously. They work in casual and fancy situations and show that you are a daring fashionista, sick and tired of the same old blue jeans. Light colors give a playful look, while darker colors give you a daring edge. So they can work for whatever mood you are in. I prefer lighter colors to be loose-fitting, and darker colors more form fitting.

Ta-ta for now!

Veronica

Memo to Reggie

I guess you’ve read about the New Year’s resolution Betty and I made. I feel really good about it – you know, responsible and grown up.

I wish ALL my friends acted this way. Yes, Reggie, I’m talking about YOU!

2008 is only 10 days old and he’s already back to pulling pranks and making fun of Bets and me. This morning, Midge opened her locker and found it completely filled with tennis balls. They bounced all over the hall and went everywhere!

And yesterday after school, Moose found his car filled with old smelly sneakers. Eeewwwwwwwww!!!

Looks like Reggie is on a roll. Of course, he conveniently has an alibi for both of those incidents - but we all KNOW who’s behind them.

Come on, Reg – GROW UP!

Still Luv Ya,

Ronnie

It’s Monday: My Brain Is Tired!

I just got home from school and my mind is numb. Does that ever happen to you? I don’t think I’m back in my old school routine yet; I feel kinda like I have jetlag. The only thing I know to do when my mind is this tired is to think about something easy, fun, and NOT school-ish. So, here’s what I want to know (to recharge my brain):

What was the BEST movie you saw last year? Your absolute favorite - the one you could see 50 times!

And (second part) is there one you missed that you really want to see?

LMK! I’ll just be sitting here resting my brain, waiting for comments…

LUV,

Ronnie

P.S. There was a lot of buzz around school today about some new AC blogs – have you seen them yet?

He’s Asking For Help!

I just read Archie’s last post. Finally, the boy is asking for help!

Okay, Archie-kins, this year I will give you some gift suggestions for Valentine’s Day. And I won’t make the same mistake I made last year; this year I will be SPECIFIC!

I learned my lesson last year. If you missed it, check out last February’s archives. It was awful!

Gotta come up with something good this year. I’ll have to think about this…

Someone’s In Big Trouble

Last night, Bets and I went to the movies, and when it was over we went to get in her car BUT we couldn’t open the doors! The key worked and everything, but they just would NOT budge.

So, Bets took a closer look and discovered the problem. Someone wrapped fishing line around her doors – you know you can’t see that stuff (neither can the fish, that’s why they use it!)  All she did was cut the line and the doors opened right up.

Of course, nobody could do that to my car; alarms go off if you even look at it funny. But Bets is into those vintage rides, so she doesn’t have an alarm system.

Who would pull such a sneaky stunt in this cold weather?

Whew!

I was never so glad to hear the bell ring than I was this afternoon! At last, the weekend is here! You know where I went straight after school?

THE MALL!!!

I just wandered around for 2 whole hours. It was sooooo good to get back in my element – the clothes, the friendly clerks (five of them said they actually missed me! Isn’t that sweet?)

Okay, I think I can have a good weekend now. Hey, what are YOU doing this weekend?

Love Ya!

Shopping Withdrawl

This is terrible! I have been back in school 2 whole days now and I have so much homework I haven’t been able to make it to the mall ONCE!

I am in SHOPPING WITHDRAWL!!!!

Seriously! I asked Ms. Grundy if we could move her class to the Riverdale Mall Atrium today - at least we would be NEAR the stores – but she didn’t go for it.

If you have any suggestions to get me back in my school routine, I sure would like to hear them!

Winter Fashions and Beauty Tips

Veronica_3 If you love to get dressed all girly and wear skirts, then do I have a trend for you! Short voluminous skirts are in this winter. These are high-waisted skirts that shoot out diagonally from your waistline. They can be pleated or flowy. There are a lot of fabrics to choose from in this style, but for the winter months I suggest wool. And of course a thick pair of stockings!
Ever heard of the kukui nut? If not, you’re probably not alone. It is also known as the candlenut and has recently been discovered to be a fab product to help hydrate and smooth out your skin. And it even helps with acne! There are a bunch of products out there that contain this nut: cleansers, face and body lotions, body wash, and lip balm. I am sure if you search your local mall you will find a number of beauty products containing kukui. Give them a try and let me know what you think!
