BBs to the Rescue!

LOL! I was just reading Archie’s blog. Poor guy!  He’s really struggling this year, isn’t he? Thanks bbs for all the help you’re giving him. Bets and I really appreciate it. ;D

Over the years Archie has given us some really great Christmas gifts, and some really weird stuff too – like the year he gave me soup. From a restaurant. It came in big plastic tub. We had a date and he took me to a nice restaurant over in Midvale. Anyway, we had soup – I don’t remember what kind it was now – but I really liked it. So, for Christmas that year he went to the restaurant, talked to the chef and got me a whole big tub of soup! Gaston loved it.

I think that’s the year he got Betty a new muffler for her car.

Anyway, it looks like he’s having one of THOSE years again. I’m prepared for anything, but I’m feeling pretty confident knowing you are all helping him.

What’s Up with Eggnog?

Hi bbs! Thanks for ALL the comments on yesterday’s post. You DO understand me! I KNEW you would. :)

I guess you could consider shopping on Black Friday a holiday tradition – I mean, people like me look forward to it every year. There are some traditions though that I just don’t get. I’d like to discuss some of those between now and New Year’s if you don’t mind.

Let’s start with Eggnog.

My opinion: YUCK!!!

Daddy loves the stuff. So does Smithers. I’m thinking it must be an old person thing – though I could be wrong. Daddy’s not all that old. Eggnog is loaded with calories, has an ugly name, NO carbonation, and it a very unattractive color. I mean, holiday beverages should not be beige.

That’s my take on eggnog. I would like your opinion. :)

Love ya!

Let Me Explain

Hi bbs! Hope your Monday is GRAND.

At school today, several people asked me WHY I was at Riverdale Mall shopping all weekend long – especially at 5 am on Black Friday.

Veronica,” they said. “YOU don’t need to shop for ANYTHING on SALE! What’s up?”

I’ll tell you. It’s not the bargains that lured me to the mall early on Black Friday. It was the whole shopping experience - the thrill of the hunt!

I DID buy a lot of stuff, but I don’t think I bought one thing ON SALE. It was just SOOOO MUCH FUN to be surrounded by people who were as enthused about shopping as I am!

Now do you understand? LMK.

I thought I’d take a little break in my Christmas shopping today to see if heard about the Author’s Choice competition. Bets and I posted our announcement about it Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I know a lot of you were traveling or were otherwise busy “holidaying”, so I just wanted to make sure you know about it! :)

Author’s Choice is always HUGE around here, and you have plenty of time to enter. Click (here) to read all about it!

Move Over, HSM!

Riverdalehighthemusical_3

I usually don’t talk about my own comic, but this one was SO much fun to do, I thought I’d mention it. One day last spring we were all sitting around the office with the AC writers and artists – having one of our “creative sessions” – and someone had the idea to spoof High School Musical.

So, we did! I worked on this one all summer with the AC staff. The story is in MY book, VERONICA #185. It’s called, “Riverdale High – The Musical!” I think it’ll start appearing in specialty comic shops this week, and on newsstands the first week in December.

I LOVE HSM, and this story was so much fun to do! I hope you like it.

Not My Area of Expertise, but…

I learned this today in Science class. Dilton gave a report which was kinda boring but informative. Tomorrow is America Recycles Day. (I used green ink here because it seems to be the universal color for this topic.)

Yeah I know, you don’t generally think of “Veronica” and “recycling” in the same sentence. “Veronica” and “extravagant” go together really well; that’s believable. But this recycling thing is important, I guess, so I thought I’d get your take on the subject.

Confession: I have a little trouble remembering to “reuse” things. Thrifty is NOT in my nature! So, does your family or school have a recycling program? And why do you think everyone talks about this so much? Just wantin’ some feedback.

Too Cute Trends!

Veronica_2A new trend making waves is vests. They are often referred to as “menswear vests,” but there is nothing manly about them. I think they get that name because they have a similar appearance to the vests guys wear underneath their suits and tuxedos. Except way more girly. They can be used in both dressy and informal situations. And there are various types to choose from. The cinch vest accentuates your waist, and should be worn buttoned (it buttons up high at the waist). This type looks really great with dresses or on top of dress shirts. Another type is more wide and boxy, and should be worn open over casual comfy clothes. But either way, they are super stylish.

Cropped pants are also in. These pants are cut off in the middle of the calf and come in a variety of styles as well – fitted, low rise, baggy, or pleated. Since it is getting cold, I would recommend wearing this style with either knee-high thick tights, or even funky knee-high socks, and a pair of flats. Or you could use knee-high boots. With boots, this look really gives the appearance of a sophisticated fashion diva. With flats and stockings/socks, you will have a more funky artsy look. Either way, they are simply adorable.

Happy Shopping!

Don’t Forget!

WOW, it’s BUSY here this week! Everyone’s planning for Thanksgiving – it’s next Thursday, you know! I can’t believe it’s almost here. I have soooo much to do:

  1. Help Pop and Jughead recruit volunteers to help with dinner

  2. Plan what I’m going to wear

  3. Practice the “new” old songs Archie wants us to do at the Retirement Village

  4. Write my Thanksgiving post

  5. Homework

Oh, I can’t write any more. I’m getting overwhelmed.

I ALMOST FORGOT - VOTE!!!

The Halloween Costume Contest is still going strong all this week. You have until Saturday night to vote for YOUR favorite costumed bb – and it looks to me like the leaders are changing DAILY. Betty says it’s like watching a NASCAR race. LoL

Here’s the link.

Thanksgiving Update

Last night, I was telling Daddy all about the big Thanksgiving Dinner Pop Tate is organizing for the Riverdale Retirement Village, and he said, “Sounds like a great project, Veronica. How can I help?”

My mind was blank. (I know, it’s hard to believe!) So, I said, “I don’t have a clue, Daddy. Why don’t you call Pop?”

I’ll do just that,” he said.

I have NO idea what he and Pop will come up with, but it looks like even our PARENTS want to help! This is going to be the best Thanksgiving Dinner Riverdale has ever seen!

The Almighty Jean!

Veronica_3 I was so excited to hear that wide-legged jeans are back in style! For all of you sick and tired of that skinny jean look, dig through your drawers and find those great wide-legged jeans you tucked a way a couple of seasons ago. Or if you never got into that trend, now is the time. The great thing about wide-legged jeans is that you can wear them with any type of shoe! Going out on a date? Throw on some heels. Hanging with the girls? Break out your sneakers. Boots of all styles work as well. Jeans can be the staple of any wardrobe, no matter what look you are going for. Can anyone say, versatile? I personally prefer stretchy denim, whether it is a skinny jean, wide-legged, boot cut, whatever. Stretchy denim is usually made with a type of lycra or spandex material thrown in the mix, and is form fitting without being restricting. So I can go for walks, go dancing, or just lounge around without feeling restricted or uncomfortable, and still look fabulous.

Starting To Feel Like Thanksgiving!

I’m Sooooooo excited about our Special Thanksgiving Project. I can’t wait to tell Daddy about it. Good job, Jug! And thank you, POP! Gaston is in holiday cooking mode. (Betty gets like this around the holidays, too.) He’s taking inventory to see what he needs to cook for all those people. I have NO idea what he’s making – I don’t think he and Pop have worked out those details yet.

While I’m on the subject of Thanksgiving, how’s your story coming for the new Story Starter? You still have plenty of time to get your entries in. (link)

Patty has a brand new (gorgeous) Thanksgiving page up on the Digital Scrapbooking Blog. Check it out (link)

BLOGGY BUDDY EXTRA: Our busy Fairy Blogmother has ALSO been working on a Tday story – and it’s DONE! Go here (link) to read it. This is a special story for BBs only; the link is not included on the AC Website.  Thank you, Patty!

Okay, that’s it for now. Homework is calling…

Love,

Great Idea!

See, this is one of the reasons Bets is my bff! She’s got a great big HEART! Sometimes I have a little trouble thinking like she does – you know, about someone other than me – but I know Bets ALWAYS has her eyes open. She doesn’t miss a thing!

What am I talking about? Our Special Thanksgiving Project! Betty wants us to help some of our neighbors here in Riverdale this Thanksgiving. First, we have to find WHO that might be.  I don’t know where to start looking… I think I’ll talk to Daddy. Stay tuned…

In other Riverdale news, Reggie has a HUGE mystery on his hands. He can’t get into his car. Yes, the new one. The keyless entry doesn’t work and neither does the good old-fashioned key! I have NO idea what that’s about. It’s driving him nuts!

How’s YOUR week going? LMK…

The Big Reveal

Wow, you guys are good guessers! So you wanna know how Dilton did it? (Note to Reggie: Sabrina had nothing to do with it; Dilton thought of this one all on his own!)

Saturday before the party, Dilton came over to my house with a bunch of tiny microphones, cameras, gadgets and electronic gizmo thingies. Smithers and Gaston already had the furniture in place for the party, so WE helped Dilton place the stuff he brought through the house – a camera near the punch bowl, a microphone by the front door – you get the idea.

He also rigged some tricks – a punch cup fell over on cue, the potted fig tree in the foyer moved like someone bumped it. It took Dilton 9 hours to set it all up!

When he finished, Smithers showed him to an empty guest room upstairs. There he monitored EVERYTHING – cameras, mics, tricks – on a laptop.

On Halloween, Dilton arrived 2 hours before the party started and hid in his room upstairs. When everyone arrived, “The Invisible Man” was there to greet them, dance, even try to get a cup of punch! Dilton was perfect; he talked to everyone like he was actually standing next to them in the room! When Reggie arrived, he said, “Great costume, Reggie!” Reggie was stunned. He kept saying, “Dilton, how are you doing that?!” I laughed so hard, I nearly gave the secret away!

At the end of the night, Dilton came downstairs, wiping the “invisibility makeup” off his face with a towel. Everyone thought he actually invented Invisible Makeup! Reggie tried to order a whole case! LOL

It was the most fun I’ve ever had on Halloween. And now you ALL know how Dilton did it. (Yes, Reggie, I know you’re reading my blog!)

Party Post!

Okay, I’ve kept you waiting long enough. Sorry about that. It’s been nuts around here! Let’s see – where to begin. Costumes!

You already know that Betty came as Glinda the Good Witch. LOL Poor Betty, she was miserable in that skirt! I tried not to laugh… but I couldn’t help myself! She was FUNNY.

MY costume? What do you think, silly? Betty came as Glinda, so NATURALLY, I was The Wicked Witch of the West! I was AWESOME! It was so much fun. The only downside? Green makeup. UGH! Honestly, I didn’t think I’d EVER get that off my skin!

You know what Archie and Jughead were – a Space Pirate and a Chef Zombie. They were terrific!

And then there was Reggie who kept us ALL in suspense with his big secret costume. You know what he came as? US – Betty & Veronica! It was brilliant! One half of Reggie was me – complete with evening gown, makeup and long dark hair. The other half was Betty, in a softball uniform and blonde pigtail! And he talked like either Betty or me ALL NIGHT, depending on which side of him you were standing on. LOL LOL It was great!

But the best costume of the night – maybe in all of Riverdale history – went to Dilton. And yes, Dilton was the person I helped. You know what he came as? The Invisible Man. And believe me – he WAS invisible! Drove everyone nuts – especially Reggie. Dilton talked to people and bumped into things, but he was completely totally transparent… as in see-through… as in GONE!

I’ll bet you can’t figure out how he did it. If you think you know, tell me. Everyone’s been asking me for the answers! (Reggie’s bugged me about it like 30 times!) So, what do you think?
