Prepster Chic

The preppy boarding school look is hot right now! This style mainly consists of plaid or pleaded skirts, button down shirts, thick tights, and those blazers I already gave you the scoop about. This look works great with flat shoes or even sneakers for comfort. And throw on a funky scarf to top it all off. Now, normally I leave the thrift stores to Betty, but they are a great way to find perfect pieces for this look. You may actually score a real deal vintage prep school blazer or shirt (wearing your own school’s uniform out does NOT count). Or you can sew emblem patches on your blazers to fake the real deal look. And, an eternal fashion tip – layers always give appearance of great fashion sense. So as an added touch, choose a short-sleeved button down shirt so that you can wear a fitted solid or striped long sleeved shirt beneath it. Put on your pleaded wool skirt, top it off with a blazer and scarf, some penny loafer flats, and you have a complete look. And with this style, you can mix and match patterns; that’s the fun of it. And for all of you who have small shopping budgets, you can just alternate scarves, tights and undershirts, and the outfit will always appear new!

i got my friend a plaid skirt and she says i thought i would never wear a plaid skirt out of school! (she goes to a catholic school) and she ended up getting a blouse and she wore it with the skirt and she looked really good! we all ♥ it on her!
