Halloween Make-Up Tips

Veronica_3 Having trouble figuring out how you are going to do your make-up for Halloween? I have some simple, easy-to-follow tips. If you are going to be a specific character, then just cut out or print out a pic of your character and enlarge it in the face area. You could use a color photocopy machine for this if you got your pic from a book, comic or magazine. If you are going to be something like a fairy or witch, go online and do an image search on your choice. I am sure a bunch of pics will pop up. Pick out your favorite one with a clear shot of the face and print it out.
As for the make-up itself, you can get some great creamy based make-up at Halloween stores, or you can use regular make-up as well. Hold the picture up to your face and try to see where all the highlights and dark areas are. Start off with the base. Is your character very pale? Then use some white creamy makeup, or very light powder or foundations. Those creamy make-ups come out very dark and thick and go on kind of like paints, so they are great if your costume calls for dramatic make-up. But for more subtle looks, eye shadows work great. They can be used for highlights and shady or dark spots, and blend wonderfully. Whichever you are using, start with the lightest areas, then work to the darkest. It is much easier to darken an area with make-up than to lighten it. If you are going to be wearing the make-up for a long time, several make-up lines sell special face sprays that keep your make-up on all day. But these could be pricey, so only get them if you really think you’ll need it. And like I said before, have fun with it! It doesn’t have to be perfect or exact; just do the best you can.
